All Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, Venerable Master, Dharma masters, and all Dharma friends, good evening. Tonight is Jin Ren’s turn to tie Dharma affinity with everyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My name is Natividad Familia Pereyra (which means Family and Christmas), and my Dharma name is Chin Ren. I was born in a small country in the Caribbean islands called the Dominican Republic. (This country is near Cuba and Puerto Rico, we share the island with Haiti.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u8af8\u4f5b\u83e9\u85a9\u3001\u5e2b\u7236\u4e0a\u4eba\u3001\u5404\u4f4d\u6cd5\u5e2b\u3001\u5404\u4f4d\u6cd5\u53cb\uff0c\u5927\u5bb6\u665a\u5b89\u3002\u4eca\u5929\u665a\u4e0a\u7531\u89aa\u4eba\u5728\u9019\u88e1\u548c\u5927\u5bb6\u7d50\u6cd5\u7de3\u3002<\/strong>\u5f1f\u5b50\u672c\u540d\u70ba<\/strong> Natividad Familia Pereyra<\/strong>\uff0c\u610f\u70ba\u300c\u5bb6\u5ead\u300d\u8207\u300c\u8056\u8a95\u7bc0\u300d\u3002\u5f1f\u5b50\u6cd5\u540d\u70ba\u89aa\u4eba\u3002\u6211\u751f\u65bc\u52a0\u52d2\u6bd4\u6d77\u8af8\u5cf6\u4e4b\u4e00\u7684\u591a\u660e\u5c3c\u52a0\u5171\u548c\u570b\uff08<\/strong>Dominican Republic<\/strong>\uff09\u3002\u6b64\u570b\u8fd1\u53e4\u5df4\u8207\u6ce2\u591a\u9ece\u5404\uff0c\u8207\u6d77\u5730\u5171\u5c45\u4e00\u5cf6\u3002<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

Many of you might ask: Who is she, where is she from, and a question that I’m mostly asked is, Why are you here? Well, I will cut through the chase immediately. I was born from Christian family, Christian parents, and at a very young age I learned how to pray with my grandmother and from my mother I learned how to read from the bible. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u8a31\u591a\u4eba\u6216\u8a31\u6703\u554f\uff1a\u5979\u662f\u8ab0\uff1f\u5979\u5f9e\u4f55\u800c\u4f86\uff1f\u4ee5\u53ca\u6700\u5e38\u88ab\u554f\u5230\u7684\u554f\u984c\u2014\u2014\u5979\u662f\u5982\u4f55\u4f86\u5230\u9019\u88e1\u7684\uff1f\u90a3\u9ebc\uff0c\u6211\u5c31\u76f4\u63a5\u5207\u5165\u6b63\u984c\u5427\u3002\u6211\u51fa\u751f\u65bc\u4e00\u500b\u57fa\u7763\u6559\u5bb6\u5ead\uff0c\u7236\u6bcd\u7686\u70ba\u57fa\u7763\u5f92\u3002\u5728\u6211\u5e74\u5e7c\u4e4b\u6642\uff0c\u7956\u6bcd\u6559\u6211\u5982\u4f55\u7948\u79b1\uff0c\u800c\u6bcd\u89aa\u5247\u6559\u4e86\u6211\u5982\u4f55\u95b1\u8b80\u300a\u8056\u7d93\u300b\u3002<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because she always read the Bible every night, I will sit down with her, longing to understand the words that she was saying and to understand the meaning of this beautiful things she will read every night, but I didn’t know how to read them; so I became very interested by the age of six on how to read the Bible and how to learn about God and how God came to be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u56e0\u70ba\u6bcd\u89aa\u6bcf\u665a\u90fd\u6703\u95b1\u8b80\u300a\u8056\u7d93\u300b\uff0c\u6211\u4fbf\u5e38\u5e38\u5750\u5728\u5979\u8eab\u65c1\uff0c\u8a66\u5716\u7406\u89e3\u5979\u6240\u5ff5\u7684\u8a71\u8a9e\uff0c\u4e5f\u8981\u7406\u89e3\u90a3\u4e9b\u7f8e\u9e97\u8a71\u8a9e\u7684\u542b\u7fa9\u3002\u7136\u800c\uff0c\u90a3\u6642\u7684\u6211\u9084\u4e0d\u8b58\u5b57\uff0c\u7121\u6cd5\u81ea\u5df1\u95b1\u8b80\u3002\u65bc\u662f\uff0c\u6211\u5728\u516d\u6b72\u6642\u5c0d\u5b78\u7fd2\u95b1\u8b80\u300a\u8056\u7d93\u300b\u548c\u4e86\u89e3\u4e0a\u5e1d\u7522\u751f\u4e86\u6fc3\u539a\u7684\u8208\u8da3\uff0c\u4e26\u6e34\u671b\u77e5\u9053\u4e0a\u5e1d\u662f\u5982\u4f55\u4f86\u5230\u9019\u500b\u4e16\u754c\u7684\u3002<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

By the age of six I demanded to be baptized in the Christian Church [of which] my mother was about to become a member. After that event, most of my life evolved around Christianity, and I always had the desire to help other people. The example I wanted to follow came from my mom, my grandmother, and the Bible characters that I learnt about, since I was six and until I was 25. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u516d\u6b72\u6642\uff0c\u6211\u5805\u6c7a\u8981\u6c42\u5728\u57fa\u7763\u6559\u6703\u63a5\u53d7\u6d17\u79ae\uff0c\u800c\u7576\u6642\u6211\u7684\u6bcd\u89aa\u4e5f\u6b63\u6e96\u5099\u6210\u70ba\u8a72\u6559\u6703\u7684\u4e00\u54e1\u3002\u81ea\u90a3\u6b21\u6d17\u79ae\u5f8c\uff0c\u6211\u7684\u751f\u6d3b\u5927\u591a\u4ee5\u57fa\u7763\u6559\u70ba\u4e2d\u5fc3\u5c55\u958b\u3002\u5e6b\u52a9\u4ed6\u4eba\u4e00\u76f4\u662f\u6211\u5e0c\u671b\u8ffd\u96a8\u7684\u699c\u6a23\uff0c\u800c\u9019\u7a2e\u699c\u6a23\u4f86\u81ea\u65bc\u6211\u7684\u6bcd\u89aa\u3001\u7956\u6bcd\uff0c\u4ee5\u53ca\u6211\u5f9e\u300a\u8056\u7d93\u300b\u4e2d\u5b78\u7fd2\u5230\u7684\u4eba\u7269\u5f62\u8c61\u3002\u5f9e\u516d\u6b72\u76f4\u5230\u4e8c\u5341\u4e94\u6b72\uff0c\u9019\u4efd\u4fe1\u4ef0\u53ca\u9858\u671b\u59cb\u7d42\u5f15\u5c0e\u8457\u6211\u7684\u4eba\u751f\u3002<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

By the time I was 19 years old, I obtained a scholarship to come to the United States to  obtain an associate degree in quality engineering, in the small town of Appleton,  Wisconsin. During that time I was always involved with church activities and taking leadership roles in the community, specifically helping people learn about the word of God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u5230\u6211 19 \u6b72\u6642\uff0c\u6211\u7372\u5f97\u4e86\u4e00\u4efd\u734e\u5b78\u91d1\uff0c\u4f86\u5230\u7f8e\u570b\u5a01\u65af\u5eb7\u8f9b\u5dde\u7684\u963f\u666e<\/strong>\u5c6f<\/strong> (Appleton) <\/strong>\u5c0f\u93ae\uff0c\u653b\u8b80\u8cea\u91cf\u5de5\u7a0b\u7684\u526f\u5b78\u58eb\u5b78\u4f4d\u3002\u5728\u6b64\u671f\u9593\uff0c\u6211\u4e00\u76f4\u53c3\u8207\u6559\u6703\u6d3b\u52d5\u4e26\u64d4\u4efb\u9818\u5c0e\u89d2\u8272\uff0c\u5c24\u5176\u662f\uff0c\u6211\u9084\u5e6b\u52a9\u4eba\u5011\u5b78\u7fd2\u4e0a\u5e1d\u7684\u8a71\u8a9e\u3002<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

After finishing my degree in the year 2001, I decided that I was going to follow or pursue a career in Christianity by becoming a church minister or an evangelist. I went on to become a Christian missionary in order to accomplish studies to become a minister,  however, this was not possible at the time, because I was a woman and as a woman, my church did not accept for me to be ordained or authorized to teach the gospel (this happened after three years of servicing the community and churches at Lima Drive, in Lexington, Kentucky, as a Spanish interpreter and social worker.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u5728 2001 \u5e74\u5b8c\u6210\u5b78\u696d\u5f8c\uff0c\u6211\u6c7a\u5b9a\u8d70\u4e0a\u57fa\u7763\u6559\u4e8b\u696d\u7684\u9053\u8def\uff0c\u6210\u70ba\u4e00\u540d\u6559\u6703\u7267\u5e2b\u6216\u798f\u97f3\u50b3\u9053\u8005\u3002\u70ba\u4e86\u5be6\u73fe\u9019\u4e00\u76ee\u6a19\uff0c\u6211\u6295\u8eab\u65bc\u57fa\u7763\u6559\u50b3\u6559\u5de5\u4f5c\u4e26\u958b\u59cb\u5b78\u7fd2\u4ee5\u6210\u70ba\u7267\u5e2b\u3002\u4f46\u662f\uff0c\u9019\u76ee\u6a19\u5728\u7576\u6642\u4e26\u6c92\u6709\u5be6\u73fe\uff0c\u56e0\u70ba\u6211\u662f\u5973\u6027\uff0c\u800c\u6211\u7684\u6559\u6703\u4e0d\u5141\u8a31\u5973\u6027\u88ab\u6388\u4e88\u8056\u8077\u6216\u6709\u6b0a\u5229\u6559\u5c0e\u798f\u97f3\u3002\u9019\u4e00\u7d50\u679c\u662f\u5728\u6211\u70ba\u57fa\u7763\u6559\u7684\u5718\u9ad4\u548c\u6559\u6703\u670d\u52d9\u4e09\u5e74\u5f8c\u767c\u751f\u7684\u2014\u2014\u6211\u5728\u80af\u5854\u57fa\u5dde\u5217\u514b\u661f\u6566\u7684\u5229\u99ac\u9053\uff08<\/strong>Lima Drive<\/strong>\uff09\u4e0a\u7684\u6559\u5802\u548c\u57fa\u7763\u6559\u5718\u9ad4\u64d4\u4efb\u897f\u73ed\u7259\u8a9e\u7ffb\u8b6f\u53ca\u793e\u5de5\u6642\uff0c\u767c\u73fe\u4e86\u9019\u4e00\u9650\u5236<\/strong>\u3002<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Right after that disappointment, and along with so many other unanswered questions I had in my mind, I additionally discovered schemes of corruption, plagiarism, and racism, as part of the bases of the organization, which led me to the total discouragement of the doctrine I had for most of my life believed in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u5728\u90a3\u6b21\u5931\u671b\u4e4b\u5f8c\uff0c\u4f34\u96a8\u8457\u6211\u5fc3\u4e2d\u8a31\u591a\u672a\u89e3\u7684\u7591\u554f\uff0c\u6211\u9084\u767c\u73fe\u4e86\u8a72\u7d44\u7e54\u6839\u672c\u5b58\u5728\u7684\u8150\u6557\u3001\u527d\u7aca\u548c\u7a2e\u65cf\u6b67\u8996\u7b49\u554f\u984c\uff0c\u9019\u4ee4\u6211\u5c0d\u6211\u4e00\u751f\u5927\u90e8\u5206\u6642\u9593\u6240\u4fe1\u4ef0\u7684\u6559\u7fa9\u611f\u5230\u5fb9\u5e95\u7684\u5931\u671b\u3002<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leaving behind everything I believed in for almost 30 years of my life I went back to my country disappointed and empty-handed.  I was just very sad remembering all the people that I led to the wrong and deceitful path. However, my faith in the source and my belief in the existence of a superior being who was truly fair and compassionate did not diminish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u5c07\u8fd1\u4e09\u5341\u5e74\u4f86\u6211\u6240\u4fe1\u4ef0\u7684\u4e00\u5207\u90fd\u62cb\u8af8\u8166\u5f8c\uff0c\u5e36\u8457\u5931\u671b\u8207\u7a7a\u865b\u56de\u5230\u4e86\u6211\u7684\u7956\u570b\u3002\u6211\u611f\u5230\u975e\u5e38\u96e3\u904e\uff0c\u56de\u60f3\u8d77\u6211\u66fe\u5f15\u9818\u8a31\u591a\u4eba\u8d70\u4e0a\u932f\u8aa4\u4e14\u5145\u6eff\u6b3a\u9a19\u7684\u9053\u8def\u3002\u7136\u800c\uff0c\u6211\u5c0d\u6e90\u982d\u7684\u4fe1\u4ef0\uff0c\u548c\u5c0d\u4e00\u4f4d\u771f\u6b63\u516c\u5e73\u4e14\u5145\u6eff\u6148\u60b2\u7684\u81f3\u9ad8\u5b58\u5728\u7684\u4fe1\u5ff5\u4e26\u6c92\u6709\u56e0\u6b64\u800c\u6e1b\u5f31\u3002<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I went on to become an English teacher, specifically language arts for children from second to sixth grade. I took delight in the job I did, but in the background I was always thinking and longing to meet with religion again. I firmly believe that religion is what can change the world. It is the spiritual practice that can transform human nature. For some reason these ideas were and still are deep down ingrained in my mind continuously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u63a5\u4e0b\u4f86\u6211\u6210\u70ba\u4e00\u540d\u82f1\u8a9e\u8001\u5e2b\uff0c\u5c08\u9580\u6559\u6388\u4e8c\u5e74\u7d1a\u5230\u516d\u5e74\u7d1a\u7684\u5152\u7ae5\u8a9e\u8a00\u85dd\u8853\u3002\u6211\u5c0d\u9019\u4efd\u5de5\u4f5c\u5145\u6eff\u71b1\u60c5\uff0c\u4f46\u5728\u5fc3\u5e95\uff0c\u6211\u7e3d\u662f\u601d\u8003\u4e26\u6e34\u671b\u518d\u6b21\u8207\u5b97\u6559\u76f8\u9047\u3002\u6211\u5805\u4fe1\uff0c\u5b97\u6559\u662f\u6539\u8b8a\u4e16\u754c\u7684\u529b\u91cf\u3002\u5b83\u662f\u80fd\u5920\u6539\u8b8a\u4eba\u985e\u672c\u6027\u7684\u7cbe\u795e\u4fee\u884c\u3002\u4e0d\u77e5\u70ba\u4f55\uff0c\u9019\u4e9b\u89c0\u5ff5\u6df1\u6df1\u6839\u690d\u65bc\u6211\u5fc3\u4e2d\uff0c\u4e00\u76f4\u4ee5\u4f86\u90fd\u6c92\u6709\u6d88\u5931\u904e\u3002<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

After some time and because of my thirst to get back to the source of a spirituality, to find the true meaning of God (and to see if it really existed or not) I stumbled upon a book in a supermarket called Consciousness.<\/em> I never thought that this book would change my life and that this small book was going to take me to Buddhism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u7d93\u904e\u4e00\u6bb5\u6642\u9593\uff0c\u7531\u65bc\u6211\u6e34\u671b\u91cd\u65b0\u56de\u5230\u7cbe\u795e\u7684\u6e90\u982d\uff0c\u4e26\u5c0b\u627e\u4e0a\u5e1d\u7684\u771f\u6b63\u610f\u7fa9\uff08\u4e5f\u60f3\u77e5\u9053\u7942\u662f\u5426\u771f\u5be6\u5b58\u5728\uff09\uff0c\u6211\u5728\u8d85\u5e02\u88e1\u5076\u7136\u767c\u73fe\u4e86\u4e00\u672c\u66f8\uff0c\u540d\u70ba\u300a\u610f\u8b58\u300b\u3002\u6211\u5f9e\u6c92\u60f3\u904e\u9019\u672c\u66f8\u6703\u6539\u8b8a\u6211\u7684\u4eba\u751f\uff0c\u4e5f\u6c92\u60f3\u5230\u9019\u672c\u5c0f\u66f8\u6703\u5f15\u9818\u6211\u9032\u5165\u4f5b\u6559\u7684\u4e16\u754c\u3002<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As I followed the pages I learned more and more about Buddhism and more and more about meditation so I stopped reading the books from that specific author and went directly for the Four Noble Truth and to learn more about the Buddha’s life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u96a8\u8457\u7ffb\u95b1\u9019\u672c\u66f8\uff0c\u6211\u5c0d\u4f5b\u6559\u548c\u6253\u5750\u7684\u4e86\u89e3\u8d8a\u4f86\u8d8a\u591a\uff0c\u56e0\u6b64\u6211\u4e0d\u518d\u95b1\u8b80\u90a3\u4f4d\u4f5c\u8005\u7684\u66f8\u7c4d\uff0c\u76f4\u63a5\u8f49\u5411\u5b78\u7fd2\u300a\u56db\u8056\u8ae6\u300b\uff0c\u4e26\u958b\u59cb\u6df1\u5165\u95b1\u8b80\u4f5b\u9640\u7684\u4e00\u751f\u3002<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

During that same period of my life, when I decided to start practicing and learning about Buddhism, I also went through tremendous emotional hardship and distress. The pressure was such that at one point I remember telling somebody \u201cI promised you I will become a Buddha” I didn’t know what I was really saying, or how to even get to accomplish such task, but I was so desperate to get out of that pain, that in my mind the only solution was to follow the Buddha’s path.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u5728\u6211\u6c7a\u5b9a\u958b\u59cb\u5be6\u8e10\u4e26\u5b78\u7fd2\u4f5b\u6559\u7684\u540c\u4e00\u6642\u671f\uff0c\u6211\u4e5f\u7d93\u6b77\u4e86\u6975\u5927\u7684\u60c5\u7dd2\u56f0\u64fe\u548c\u75db\u82e6\u3002\u58d3\u529b\u5927\u5230\u6211\u8a18\u5f97\u6211\u4e00\u5ea6\u5c0d\u67d0\u4eba\u8aaa\u904e\uff1a\u201c\u6211\u7b54\u61c9\u4f60\uff0c\u6211\u6703\u6210\u4f5b\u3002\u201d \u7576\u6642\u6211\u4e26\u4e0d\u77e5\u9053\u81ea\u5df1\u771f\u6b63\u8aaa\u4e86\u4ec0\u9ebc\uff0c\u6216\u8a72\u5982\u4f55\u5be6\u73fe\u9019\u6a23\u7684\u76ee\u6a19\uff0c\u4f46\u6211\u7576\u6642\u7684\u75db\u82e6\u8b93\u6211\u6975\u5ea6\u7d55\u671b\uff0c\u6211\u5fc3\u4e2d\u552f\u4e00\u7684\u89e3\u6c7a\u8fa6\u6cd5\u5c31\u662f\u8ddf\u96a8\u4f5b\u9640\u7684\u9053\u8def\u3002<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As time went by, I created my own routine of meditation and practice. In time I felt that I was learning a lot from different sources but most literature was in English at the time  (Very little was available in Spanish, which is my mother tongue). So I longed to have a Buddhist community, but I didn’t have a school to go to learn, and I didn’t have a leader other than the books that I read and the articles that I found along with the YouTube videos I was watching on my own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u96a8\u8457\u6642\u9593\u7684\u63a8\u79fb\uff0c\u6211\u8a02\u5b9a\u4e86\u81ea\u5df1\u7684\u6253\u5750\u548c\u4fee\u884c\u529f\u8ab2\uff0c\u6f38\u6f38\u5730\uff0c\u6211\u81ea\u5df1\u8a8d\u70ba\u6211\u5f9e\u4e0d\u540c\u7684\u4f86\u6e90\u5b78\u5230\u4e86\u5f88\u591a\u6771\u897f\uff0c\u4f46\u7576\u6642\u5927\u591a\u6578\u6587\u737b\u90fd\u662f\u82f1\u6587\u7684\uff08\u5f88\u5c11\u6709\u897f\u73ed\u7259\u6587\u7684\u8cc7\u6599\uff0c\u800c\u897f\u73ed\u7259\u6587\u662f\u6211\u7684\u6bcd\u8a9e\uff09\u3002\u56e0\u6b64\uff0c\u6211\u5e0c\u671b\u5c0b\u627e\u4f5b\u6cd5\u7684\u5718\u9ad4\u4f86\u5b78\u7fd2\uff0c\u4f46\u6211\u4e26\u6c92\u6709\u4e00\u500b\u5718\u9ad4\uff0c\u4e5f\u6c92\u6709\u5b78\u6821\u53ef\u4ee5\u53bb\u5b78\u7fd2\uff0c\u6216\u8005\u8207\u9053\u53cb\u4e92\u76f8\u5206\u4eab\u4f5b\u6cd5\uff0c\u9664\u4e86\u6211\u95b1\u8b80\u7684\u66f8\u7c4d\u3001\u627e\u5230\u7684\u6587\u7ae0\u548c\u6211\u81ea\u5df1\u89c0\u770b\u7684 YouTube \u5f71\u7247\u4e4b\u5916\uff0c\u6c92\u6709\u5176\u4ed6\u7684\u5e36\u9818\u8005<\/s>\u3002<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

At this point I didn’t know exactly how the school DRBU got my email and contacted me, specifically at a moment when I was desperate. I had looked (unsuccessfully) in many places for a monastery or a sangha to go to and volunteer, in exchange to learn and practice Buddhism, but I never thought that there was such a thing as a Buddhist university. I didn’t even know that the Chan tradition was Buddhism, I thought it was a group of kung-fu monks (I was below basic).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u5728\u9019\u500b\u6642\u5019\uff0c\u6211\u4e26\u4e0d\u77e5\u6cd5\u754c\u4f5b\u6559\u5927\u5b78\u662f\u600e\u9ebc\u7372\u5f97\u6211\u7684\u96fb\u5b50\u90f5\u4ef6\u4e26\u806f\u7e6b\u6211\u7684\uff0c\u5c24\u5176\u662f\u5728\u6211\u975e\u5e38\u7d55\u671b\u7684\u6642\u5019\u3002\u6211\u66fe\u5728\u5f88\u591a\u5730\u65b9\u5c0b\u627e\u904e\u5bfa\u5edf\u6216\u50e7\u5718\uff08\u4f46\u6c92\u6709\u6210\u529f\u7684\uff09\u3002\u6211\u5e0c\u671b\u80fd\u5920\u53bb\u90a3\u88e1\u7576\u7fa9\u5de5\uff0c\u4ee5\u53ca\u5b78\u7fd2\uff0c\u4fee\u884c\u4f5b\u6cd5\uff0c\u4f46\u6211\u5f9e\u4f86\u6c92\u60f3\u904e\u6703\u6709\u9019\u6a23\u7684\u4f5b\u6559\u5927\u5b78\u3002\u90a3\u6642\u5019\u6211\u751a\u81f3\u4e0d\u77e5\u9053\u79aa\u5b97\u662f\u4f5b\u6559\u7684\u4e00\u90e8\u5206\uff0c\u6211\u751a\u81f3\u8a8d\u70ba\u79aa\u5b97\u662f\u4e00\u7fa4\u7fd2\u6b66\u7684\u548c\u5c1a\u3002\u7576\u6642\u6211\u5c0d\u4f5b\u6559\u7684\u4e86\u89e3\u5e7e\u4e4e\u662f\u96f6\u3002<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The school wrote an email offering a BA in Liberal Arts<\/a> with emphasis in religious philosophy, I just could not believe it!! I thought it was some sort of a scam, so I answered immediately to see if it was not some internet trick; to my surprise the school answered back right away, and gave me details about the program and how, regardless of my financial situation, gender, age or nationality, I could start a career in religious philosophy. Five months after that first email, I made it to the USA, specifically to CTTB<\/p>\n\n\n\n

and now I am finishing my second semester of a BA in Liberal Arts at DRBU at 48 yrs old.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u5b78\u6821\u767c\u4e86\u4e00\u5c01\u96fb\u5b50\u90f5\u4ef6\uff0c\u63d0\u4f9b\u4e00\u500b\u4ee5\u5b97\u6559\u54f2\u5b78\u70ba\u91cd\u9ede\u7684\u6587\u5b78\u58eb\u5b78\u4f4d\uff0c\u6211\u7c21\u76f4\u4e0d\u6562\u76f8\u4fe1\uff01\u6211\u4ee5\u70ba\u9019\u662f\u67d0\u7a2e\u8a50\u9a19\uff01\u65bc\u662f\uff0c\u6211\u7acb\u523b\u56de\u8986\uff0c\u770b\u770b\u9019\u662f\u5426\u53ea\u662f\u7db2\u7d61\u4e0a\u7684\u4e00\u500b\u9a19\u5c40\uff1b\u4ee4\u6211\u9a5a\u8a1d\u7684\u662f\uff0c\u5b78\u6821\u7acb\u523b\u56de\u8986\u4e86\uff0c\u4e26\u63d0\u4f9b\u4e86\u6709\u95dc\u8a72\u8a08\u5283\u7684\u8a73\u60c5\uff0c\u544a\u8a34\u6211\u7121\u8ad6\u6211\u7684\u7d93\u6fdf\u72c0\u6cc1\u3001\u6027\u5225\u3001\u5e74\u9f61\u6216\u570b\u7c4d\u5982\u4f55\uff0c\u90fd\u53ef\u4ee5\u5c55\u958b\u4e00\u500b\u5b97\u6559\u54f2\u5b78\u7684\u751f\u6daf\u3002\u5728\u6211\u6536\u5230\u6cd5\u5927\u7b2c\u4e00\u5c01\u96fb\u5b50\u90f5\u4ef6\u7684\u4e94\u500b\u6708\u5f8c\uff0c\u7d42\u65bc\u4f86\u5230\u4e86\u7f8e\u570b\uff0c\u4f86\u5230\u4e86\u842c\u4f5b\u8056\u6210\uff0c\u73fe\u5728\u6211\u4ee548\u6b72\u7684\u5e74\u7d00\uff0c\u5df2\u7d93\u5b8c\u6210\u4e86\u6cd5\u5927\u7b2c\u4e8c\u5b78\u671f\u7684\u6587\u5b78\u58eb\u8ab2\u7a0b\u3002<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is important to mention that as I came to DRBU it was clear to me that my arrival to CTTB and DRBU had a purpose, and that purpose is to grab the Dharma and take it back to the place where I am from, to that place where no one knows the Dharma and there are no Buddhist monasteries or Sangha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u6709\u4e00\u500b\u91cd\u9ede\u6211\u60f3\u63d0\u5230\u7684\u662f\uff0c\u7576\u6211\u4f86\u5230\u6cd5\u5927\u6642\uff0c\u6211\u6df1\u77e5\u6211\u4f86\u6b64\u8056\u5730\u6709\u8457\u660e\u78ba\u7684\u76ee\u7684\uff0c\u800c\u9019\u500b\u76ee\u7684\u5c31\u662f\u8981\u5b78\u7fd2\u4f5b\u6cd5\uff0c\u4e26\u5c07\u5b83\u5e36\u56de\u6211\u672c\u4f86\u7684\u5730\u65b9\u2014\u2014\u90a3\u500b\u6c92\u6709\u4f5b\u6cd5\u3001\u6c92\u6709\u4f5b\u6559\u7684\u5bfa\u5edf\u6216\u50e7\u5718\u7684\u5730\u65b9<\/strong>\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As I was teaching the last few years before I came to DRBU, I was teaching young students about mindfulness and basic yoga practices. During these times I was convinced that education in our society shall be influenced by spiritual practices and Buddhist philosophy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u5728\u4f86\u5230\u6cd5\u5927\u4e4b\u524d\u7684\u5e7e\u5e74\uff0c\u6211\u4e00\u76f4\u5728\u6559\u5c0e\u5e74\u8f15\u5b78\u751f\u95dc\u65bc\u6b63\u5ff5\u548c\u57fa\u672c\u745c\u4f3d\u7684\u7df4\u7fd2\u3002\u5728\u9019\u6bb5\u6642\u9593\u88e1\uff0c\u6211\u6df1\u4fe1\u6211\u5011\u793e\u6703\u7684\u6559\u80b2\u61c9\u8a72\u53d7\u5230\u4f5b\u6cd5\u7684\u54f2\u7406\u53ca\u5be6\u4fee\u7684\u5f71\u97ff\u3002<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As I came to CTTB and met Master Hua and his vision and learned that his vision is the same as mine, I bowed to him, and also bowed to take this kind of education to my country. Finding the Dharma has been the same as finding a great treasure, and I feel like taking this treasure, which are the sutras and all the teachings of the Buddha, to young people in the form of education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u7576\u6211\u4f86\u5230\u6cd5\u5927\uff0c\u8a8d\u8b58\u4e0a\u4eba\u4e26\u4e86\u89e3\u4e0a\u4eba\u7684\u9858\u529b\u6642\uff0c\u6211\u767c\u73fe\u6211\u7684\u5fc3\u9858\u539f\u4f86\u662f\u8207\u4e0a\u4eba\u7684\u9858\u529b\u6709\u4e00\u90e8\u5206\u76f8\u540c\u3002\u65bc\u662f\uff0c\u6211\u5411\u4e0a\u4eba\u5750\u50cf\u9802\u79ae\uff0c\u4e5f\u9802\u79ae\u4f86\u627f\u64d4\u5c07\u9019\u6a23\u7684\u6559\u80b2\u5e36\u56de\u6211\u5bb6\u9109\u7684\u4f7f\u547d\u3002\u627e\u5230\u4f5b\u6cd5\u5c0d\u6211\u4f86\u8aaa\u5c31\u50cf\u767c\u73fe\u4e86\u4e00\u5927\u5bf6\u85cf\u4e00\u6a23\uff0c\u6211\u89ba\u5f97\u81ea\u5df1\u61c9\u8a72\u64d4\u8ca0\u8d77\u5c07\u4f5b\u9640\u7684\u6559\u7fa9\u548c\u7d93\u5178\uff0c\u4f5c\u70ba\u6559\u80b2\u7684\u4e00\u90e8\u5206\uff0c\u50b3\u905e\u7d66\u5e74\u8f15\u4eba\u3002<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

So now as I speak before you, I feel deeply committed, to take this Dharma of the Buddha to my land. How is it going to happen? I don’t know. I just know that I must prepare and brace myself in order to accomplish this vision of mine,\u2026 this vision of Master Hua.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u56e0\u6b64\uff0c\u7576\u6211\u73fe\u5728\u5728\u9019\u88e1\u548c\u5927\u5bb6\u5206\u4eab\u6642\uff0c\u6211\u611f\u5230\u5167\u5fc3\u6df1\u6df1\u7684\u627f\u8afe\u2014\u2014\u5c07\u4f5b\u6cd5\u5e36\u56de\u6211\u7684\u5bb6\u9109\u3002\u9019\u6703\u5982\u4f55\u5be6\u73fe\uff1f\u6211\u9084\u4e0d\u6e05\u695a\u3002\u6211\u53ea\u77e5\u9053\uff0c\u6211\u5fc5\u9808\u5168\u529b\u4ee5\u8d74\uff0c\u70ba\u5be6\u73fe\u9019\u500b\u5fc3\u9858\u505a\u597d\u6e96\u5099\u2014\u2014\u9019\u65e2\u662f\u6211\u7684\u5fc3\u9858\uff0c\u4e5f\u662f\u5728\u4e0a\u4eba\u9858\u529b\u4e4b\u4e2d\u3002<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As I conclude this Dharma talk tonight, I would like to thank each and everyone of you, this community, and this monastery for showing so much support and compassion after the passing of my mother. My mother passed away on October 21st.  As I rushed to the airport for her funeral, I never thought I was going to count on so much support and compassion from the Buddhist community. Many lay people and some monastics have set up paiwei-s[1]<\/sup><\/a> and so many others are still praying for her during these 49 days until Dec. 8th, reciting so she can be reborn in the Buddha’s pure land. My mother transitioned on the same day when Guanyin Bodhisattva left home, and it was her dream to attend my graduation in 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u4eca\u665a\u5728\u7d50\u675f\u9019\u6b21\u5206\u4eab\u4e4b\u524d\uff0c\u6211\u60f3\u611f\u8b1d\u6bcf\u4e00\u4f4d\u5728\u5ea7\u7684\u6cd5\u5e2b\u3001\u6cd5\u53cb\uff0c\u611f\u8b1d\u9019\u88e1\u9053\u5834\u7684\u50e7\u5718\u8207\u5b78\u6821\u7684\u5927\u5bb6\u5ead\uff0c\u5728\u6211\u6bcd\u89aa\u5f80\u751f\u6642\u5019\u7d66\u4e88\u6211\u5982\u6b64\u591a\u7684\u652f\u6301\u8207\u6148\u60b2\u3002\u6211\u6bcd\u89aa\u65bc10\u670821\u65e5\u5f80\u751f\uff0c\u7576\u6211\u5306\u5fd9\u8d95\u5f80\u6a5f\u5834\u53c3\u8207\u5979\u7684\u846c\u79ae\u6642\uff0c\u5f9e\u6c92\u60f3\u5230\u6703\u5f9e\u4f5b\u6559\u5718\u9ad4\u4e2d\u7372\u5f97\u9019\u9ebc\u591a\u7684\u95dc\u61f7\u8207\u652f\u6301\u3002\u8a31\u591a\u6cd5\u5e2b\u3001\u6cd5\u53cb\u70ba\u4e86\u6211\u6bcd\u89aa\u8a2d\u7acb\u4e86\u724c\u4f4d<\/strong>1<\/sup>\uff0c\u9084\u6709\u8a31\u591a\u6cd5\u5e2b\u6cd5\u53cb\u5728\u901949\u5929\u5167\u6301\u7e8c\u70ba\u5979\u8aa6\u7d93\u3001\u5ff5\u4f5b\uff0c\u7948\u9858\u5979\u80fd\u5f80\u751f\u6de8\u571f\uff0c\u76f4\u523012\u67088\u65e5\u5713\u6eff\u3002\u6211\u6bcd\u89aa\u662f\u5728\u89c0\u97f3\u83e9\u85a9\u51fa\u5bb6\u7d00\u5ff5\u65e5\u7684\u540c\u4e00\u5929\u5f80\u751f\u7684\uff0c\u800c\u5979\u7684\u5922\u60f3\u662f\u80fd\u57282027\u5e74\u53c3\u52a0\u6211\u7684\u4f5b\u6559\u5927\u5b78\u7562\u696d\u5178\u79ae<\/strong>\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is so much more I would like to share with all of you: The first experiences as I arrived to CTTB, the dreams I had with the Dharma protectors, how I took refuge under Master Hua a few months after arriving, and all the other wonderful things that have been happening to me as I progress in my practice and my time here at the City of 10,000 Buddhas. However, the time is short and I shall have another Dharma talk in order to share all of the blessings that I am now and will be receiving at this wonderful place as I enter into the Dharma Realm.
