Ven. Master Hua’s foresight and our aspiration from the perspective of global trends and developments in higher education<\/span><\/p>\n \u8af8\u4f5b\u83e9\u85a9\u3001\u5e2b\u7236\u4e0a\u4eba\u3001\u5404\u4f4d\u6cd5\u5e2b\u3001\u5404\u4f4d\u5e2b\u9577\u4ee5\u53ca\u5404\u4f4d\u540c\u5b78\uff0c\u5927\u5bb6\u5348\u5b89\u3002<\/p>\n Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, Ven. Master, Dharma Masters, teachers and students, good afternoon.<\/p>\n \u975e\u5e38\u69ae\u5e78\u80fd\u5920\u53c3\u52a0\u6cd5\u754c\u4f5b\u6559\u5927\u5b78\u7684\u7562\u696d\u5178\u79ae\uff0c\u4ee5\u53ca\u50e7\u4f3d\u5c45\u58eb\u6559\u80b2\u8a13\u7df4\u73ed\u7684\u7d50\u696d\u5f0f\u3002\u6b64\u6642\u6b64\u523b\u6211\u7684\u5167\u5fc3\u5145\u6eff\u4e86\u6cd5\u559c\uff0c\u4f46\u66f4\u662f\u5145\u6eff\u4e86\u615a\u6127\uff0c\u56e0\u70ba\u5be6\u5728\u662f\u6c92\u6709\u8cc7\u683c\u5728\u9019\u88e1\u505a\u7562\u696d\u5178\u79ae\u7684\u8ac7\u8a71\u3002<\/p>\n I am very honored to participate in the commencement exercises of Dharma Realm Buddhist University, and of the Sangha Laity Training Program. At this moment, I am filled with Dharma joy but at the same time, filled with shame, because I am not really qualitied to speak in the commencement.<\/p>\n \u6211\u662f\u65bc1990\u5e74\u6625\u5929\u4efb\u6559\u65bc\u55ac\u6cbb\u83ef\u76db\u9813\u5927\u5b78\u7684\u6642\u5019\uff0c\u7688\u4f9d\u5e2b\u7236\u4e0a\u4eba\u7684\uff0c\u4e0a\u4eba\u6bb7\u52e4\u6559\u8aa8\u6211\u5011\u8981\u8aa0\u5be6\u505a\u4eba\uff0c\u52aa\u529b\u4fee\u884c\uff0c\u4e26\u4e14\u5728\u4ed6\u4e4b\u524d\u4f5c\u4f5b\u6210\u4f5b\uff0c\u4ed6\u66fe\u7d93\u8aaa\u904e\uff1a\u300c\u6211\u662f\u4e00\u96bb\u5c0f\u879e\u87fb\uff0c\u7518\u9858\u8d70\u5728\u4e00\u5207\u4f5b\u6559\u5f92\u7684\u8173\u5e95\u4e0b\uff1b\u6211\u662f\u4e00\u689d\u9053\u8def\uff0c\u9858\u6240\u6709\u773e\u751f\u8d70\u5728\u6211\u8eab\u4e0a\uff0c\u5f9e\u51e1\u592b\u5730\u76f4\u9054\u4f5b\u5730\u3002\u300d\u4e0a\u4eba\u7684\u5341\u516b\u5927\u9858\uff0c\u66f4\u662f\u8b93\u6211\u5011\u6df1\u6df1\u611f\u5ff5\u4ed6\u7684\u6148\u60b2\u5fc3\u8207\u5927\u9858\u529b\u3002\u4ee5\u4e0b\u6211\u60f3\u5f9e\u76ee\u524d\u5168\u7403\u9ad8\u7b49\u6559\u80b2\u7684\u767c\u5c55\u614b\u52e2\uff0c\u8ac7\u5230\u4e0a\u4eba\u7684\u5148\u77e5\u5353\u898b\u4ee5\u53ca\u5c0d\u65bc\u6211\u5011\u7684\u671f\u5f85\u3002<\/p>\n I took refuge with Ven. Master Hua in the spring of 1990 when I was teaching at George Washington University. The Ven. Master taught us to be good, honest people and cultivate diligently. He wanted us to become Buddhas before he did. He once said, “I am a little ant, willing to walk beneath the feet of all Buddhists. I am a road; I hope every living being can walk on me to reach the ground of Buddhahood from the ground of ordinary people.” The Ven. Master’s 18 vows makes me deeply grateful for his compassion and the strength of his great vows. Hence, I would like to talk about the Ven. Master’s foresight and his expectations for us from the perspective of globalization trends and developments in higher education.<\/p>\n \u9ad8\u7b49\u6559\u80b2\u5728\u5168\u7403\u5316\u601d\u7dad\u7684\u885d\u64ca\u4e0b\uff0c\u5176\u6838\u5fc3\u50f9\u503c\u4ee5\u53ca\u76f8\u5c0d\u61c9\u7684\u8fa6\u5b78\u7406\u5ff5\u8207\u65b9\u5411\uff0c\u5f15\u767c\u4e86\u4e0d\u540c\u7684\u8ad6\u8ff0\u8207\u722d\u8faf\uff0c\u5f9e\u5404\u570b\u653f\u5e9c\u76f8\u7e7c\u5c07\u8cc7\u6e90\u6295\u5165\u4f5c\u70ba\u5f37\u5316\u5176\u5728\u570b\u969b\u9593\u9ad8\u6559\u7af6\u722d\u529b\u7684\u4e8b\u5be6\u4f86\u770b\uff0c\u9ad8\u7b49\u6559\u80b2\u5728\u4e16\u754c\u5404\u570b\u5df2\u7d93\u7522\u751f\u91cd\u5927\u7684\u8cea\u8b8a\uff0c\u4e26\u4e14\u88ab\u8996\u70ba\u662f\u773e\u591a\u7af6\u722d\u578b\u7522\u696d\u4e2d\u7684\u4e00\u985e\u3002\u5f9e\u6559\u80b2\u7684\u672c\u8cea\u61c9\u8a72\u662f\u4e00\u7a2e\u57f9\u80b2\u5b78\u751f\u5177\u6709\u5fb7\u884c\u8207\u667a\u6167\u7684\u826f\u5fc3\u4e8b\u696d\uff0c\u8f49\u8b8a\u6210\u70ba\u7d93\u6fdf\u9ad4\u4e2d\u7684\u4e00\u7a2e\u7522\u696d\uff0c\u9019\u500b\u73fe\u8c61\u78ba\u5be6\u662f\u503c\u5f97\u6709\u5fd7\u4eba\u58eb\u9ad8\u5ea6\u95dc\u6ce8\u7684\u8b70\u984c\u3002<\/p>\n Globalization-oriented thinking, with its core values and corresponding educational philosophy and direction for higher education, has sparked different discussions and debates.\u00a0 The fact that governments in various countries have poured resources into higher education to strengthen their competitive edge has brought about a major qualitative change in higher education. Higher education is now categorized as just one more kind of competitive business on the market.\u00a0 Education, originally a profession of the conscience that strives to nurture students\u2019 inherent virtues and wisdom, has now turned into an industry within the economy. This phenomenon is an issue that greatly needs the attention of concerned parties.<\/p>\n \u6211\u5011\u82e5\u4ee5\u5168\u7403\u5404\u5927\u540d\u6821\u722d\u76f8\u958b\u8fa6\u7684\u9ad8\u968e\u73ed\u5546\u7ba1\u6559\u80b2\u70ba\u4f8b\uff0c\u66f4\u662f\u6bcf\u500b\u5927\u5b78\u8996\u70ba\u71df\u6536\u8207\u7372\u5229\u7684\u91cd\u8981\u4f86\u6e90\uff0c\u53c3\u8207\u7684\u5b78\u54e1\u5728\u6b64\u7af6\u9010\u539a\u690d\u81ea\u5df1\u7684\u793e\u6703\u4eba\u8108\u8207\u7db2\u7d61\uff0c\u96d6\u7136\u8ab2\u7a0b\u5167\u5bb9\u8457\u91cd\u65bc\u7d93\u71df\u7684\u7b56\u7565\u5730\u5716\uff0c\u4ee5\u53ca\u5feb\u901f\u6709\u6548\u7684\u884c\u52d5\u65b9\u6848\uff0c\u5f9e\u5c08\u696d\u9818\u57df\u7684\u77e5\u8b58\u5efa\u69cb\u800c\u8a00\uff0c\u662f\u7121\u53ef\u539a\u975e\uff0c\u7136\u5c0d\u65bc\u4f01\u696d\u7d93\u71df\u8a72\u6709\u4e4b\u4ec1\u7fa9\u9053\u5fb7\u548c\u5229\u76ca\u773e\u751f\u7684\u601d\u60f3\uff0c\u537b\u9bae\u5c11\u63d0\u53ca\u3002\u5546\u7ba1\u6559\u80b2\u513c\u7136\u6210\u70ba\u4e00\u7a2e\u5546\u54c1\uff0c\u4f9d\u5b78\u8cbb\u50f9\u683c\u6c7a\u5b9a\u6b64\u7a2e\u5546\u54c1\u7684\u826f\u7ab3\u8207\u793e\u6703\u8a8d\u77e5\u7684\u8072\u671b\u3002<\/p>\n Take, for example, the competitive advanced MBA programs in the world’s most elite schools. These universities regard such programs as an important source of revenue and profit. \u00a0Students also strive to establish their social networks via these programs.\u00a0 Although it is reasonable and understandable to expect an emphasis on operational strategies as well as effective and efficient action plans from the aspect of professional knowledge and expertise, virtue, humaneness, and the aim of benefiting living beings are rarely mentioned here.\u00a0 As a result, MBA programs have become a business commodity and the price of tuition determines the quality, social prestige and recognition.<\/p>\n \u5176\u6b21\uff0c\u6211\u5011\u4e5f\u770b\u5230\u8a31\u591a\u9ad8\u7b49\u6559\u80b2\u7684\u4eba\u624d\u57f9\u80b2\u898f\u756b\uff0c\u4e3b\u8981\u5728\u5f37\u8abf\u5982\u4f55\u5728\u5168\u7403\u5316\u7684\u5c31\u696d\u5e02\u5834\u6c1b\u570d\u4e0b\uff0c\u63d0\u5347\u8de8\u9818\u57df\u7684\u5c08\u696d\u53ca\u570b\u969b\u79fb\u52d5\u7684\u80fd\u529b\uff0c\u4e26\u5f37\u5316\u8207\u7522\u696d\u7684\u9023\u7d50\uff0c\u4fc3\u9032\u5b78\u751f\u7684\u8077\u5834\u5c31\u696d\u529b\uff0c\u56e0\u6b64\u6559\u80b2\u8fa6\u5b78\u7684\u7e3e\u6548\u6307\u6a19\uff0c\u5f80\u5f80\u662f\u5b78\u751f\u7562\u696d\u5f8c\u7684\u5c31\u696d\u72c0\u6cc1\u8abf\u67e5\uff0c\u8207\u5404\u9805\u8077\u6daf\u767c\u5c55\u7684\u8ffd\u8e64\u8003\u6838\u3002\u540c\u6642\uff0c\u5728\u5546\u696d\u5316\u5c0e\u5411\u7684\u570b\u969b\u6392\u540d\u8207\u7af6\u722d\u4e0b\uff0c\u5275\u9020\u4e86\u5927\u5b78\u8ffd\u6c42\u5546\u696d\u54c1\u724c\u7684\u8ff7\u601d\uff0c\u53cd\u800c\u662f\u5728\u6559\u80b2\u7684\u904e\u7a0b\u4e2d\uff0c\u80fd\u5920\u4f7f\u5b78\u751f\u5728\u4e00\u751f\u4e2d\u6c38\u7e8c\u57f9\u798f\u8207\u589e\u6167\u7684\u57fa\u672c\u502b\u7406\u548c\u9053\u5fb7\u7d20\u990a\uff0c\u537b\u6975\u70ba\u7f3a\u4e4f\u3002<\/p>\n Secondly, we also see many professional development plans in higher education.\u00a0 These plans primarily focus on how to enhance one’s professional expertise and internal mobility in a globalized environment and how to strengthen the connection with the industry in order to upgrade the students\u2019 ability to compete in the job market and workplace. Therefore, such education has been evaluated in terms of career development and employment after graduation.\u00a0 Meanwhile, the commercialized international rankings and competition have generated a craze to pursue studies at a “name brand” university.\u00a0 But basic virtues and ethics, which would guide students to sustain right livelihoods and create blessings and wisdom for the rest of their lives, are utterly lacking in the educational process.<\/p>\n \u8655\u65bc\u7576\u4eca\u5feb\u901f\u8b8a\u9077\u7684\u7db2\u8def\u6642\u4ee3\uff0c\u6240\u6709\u5404\u65b9\u9762\u9818\u57df\u7684\u77e5\u8b58\u5275\u9020\u3001\u5f62\u6210\u8207\u5206\u4eab\u90fd\u662f\u5373\u6642\u6027\u7684\uff0c\u800c\u4e14\u662f\u7206\u70b8\u6027\u7684\u3002\u5c08\u696d\u77e5\u8b58\u4ee5\u53ca\u4efb\u4f55\u4e00\u7a2e\u5b78\u79d1\u9818\u57df (Discipline) \u7684\u5178\u7bc4 (Paradigm) \u56e0\u6b64\u6046\u5e38\u8655\u65bc\u8b8a\u52d5\u7684\u72c0\u614b\uff0c\u5275\u65b0 (Innovation) \u6210\u4e86\u4e3b\u6d41\uff0c\u4e0d\u50c5\u9020\u6210\u4e86\u5b78\u7fd2\u9762\u5411\u7684\u591a\u5143\u767c\u5c55\uff0c\u4e5f\u9020\u6210\u4e86\u5168\u7403\u5728\u591a\u5143\u77e5\u8b58\u7684\u5efa\u69cb\u548c\u50f9\u503c\u89c0\u7684\u5f62\u6210\u904e\u7a0b\u4e2d\uff0c\u4ee5\u6307\u6578\u5f0f\u6210\u9577 (Exponential Growth) \u7684\u901f\u5ea6\uff0c\u8d85\u8d8a\u4e86\u4e00\u822c\u5e38\u4eba\u6240\u80fd\u5438\u6536\u8207\u5224\u5225\u8fa8\u8b58\u7684\u80fd\u529b\u3002<\/p>\n In the digital era of rapid changes, all aspects of the creation, formation and sharing of knowledge are instant and explosive. \u00a0The expertise and paradigms of any discipline are in a state of constant change.\u00a0 Innovation has become the mainstream. This results not only in learning having to confront diversified developments, it also means that the rate of exponential growth in global diversified knowledge construction and value formation has exceeded the capacity of ordinary people to absorb and discern.<\/p>\n \u5766\u767d\u800c\u8a00\uff0c\u9019\u6a23\u7684\u767c\u5c55\u5c0d\u65bc\u5b78\u751f\u5728\u9818\u57df\u77e5\u8b58\u7684\u5b78\u7fd2\u672c\u8eab\u5c31\u662f\u4e00\u7a2e\u6975\u5927\u7684\u6311\u6230\uff0c\u4f46\u66f4\u5927\u7684\u56f0\u96e3\u662f\uff0c\u6211\u5011\u61c9\u8a72\u5982\u4f55\u95dc\u7167\u5230\u5b78\u751f\uff0c\u7279\u5225\u662f\u7576\u4ed6\u5011\u5728\u5f62\u5851\u5065\u5168\u4eba\u683c\u7279\u8cea\u7684\u5b78\u7fd2\u904e\u7a0b\u88e1\uff0c\u4ed6\u5011\u7684\u8eab\u8207\u5fc3\u5747\u5fc5\u9808\u8655\u65bc\u5916\u5883\u4e0d\u65b7\u8b8a\u5316\u8207\u52d5\u6416\u7684\u73fe\u8c61\u4e16\u754c\u88e1\u3002\u9019\u4e9b\u73fe\u6cc1\u5747\u5728\u5728\u7684\u6307\u5411\u4e00\u500b\u56b4\u8085\u7684\u8ab2\u984c\uff0c\u4ea6\u5373\u7576\u4eca\u7684\u4e16\u754c\u61c9\u5982\u4f55\u767c\u5c55\u5065\u5168\u7684\u6559\u80b2\u7406\u5ff5\u548c\u5236\u5ea6\uff0c\u800c\u6559\u80b2\u5167\u6db5\u7684\u4e3b\u6d41\u56de\u6b78\u5230\u4eba\u985e\u666e\u4e16\u4e0d\u8b8a\u7684\u502b\u7406\u8207\u9053\u5fb7\u89c0\u7684\u5c64\u9762\uff0c\u662f\u4e00\u689d\u5fc5\u9700\u7684\u9053\u8def\u3002<\/p>\n Frankly speaking, such a development for the students in their field of study is itself a great challenge, but the bigger problem is how we take care of the students, especially in the process of shaping their character as a whole person, when their bodies and minds are bombarded with constant changes and shifts in the world of phenomena. The current situation presents a serious topic, namely, how to develop a healthy and wholesome educational philosophy and system so that the mainstream and the content of education returns to universal value of timeless ethics and virtues.\u00a0 As educators, this is a path we must tread on.<\/p>\n \u53e6\u4e00\u65b9\u9762\uff0c\u7576\u8cc7\u672c\u4e3b\u7fa9\u7684\u767c\u5c55\u5728\u5168\u7403\u5316\u7684\u63a8\u6ce2\u52a9\u703e\u4e4b\u4e0b\uff0c\u4e00\u5207\u5747\u8b1b\u6c42\u5feb\u901f\u7af6\u722d\u7684\u6b65\u8abf\uff0c\u6211\u5011\u6240\u8655\u7684\u4f9d\u5831\u4e16\u754c\uff0c\u4e5f\u7522\u751f\u4e86\u91cd\u5927\u7684\u8b8a\u5316\u3002\u73fe\u5728\u5927\u5bb6\u90fd\u5728\u8ac7\u5929\u707d\u4eba\u798d\uff0c\u8d8a\u4f86\u8d8a\u591a\u4eba\u89ba\u609f\u5230\u4e16\u9593\u7121\u5e38\u3001\u570b\u571f\u5371\u8106\uff0c\u4eba\u985e\u7684\u6587\u660e\u767c\u5c55\u7121\u6cd5\u963b\u6b62\u707d\u8b8a\u4e0d\u505c\u7684\u767c\u751f\u3002\u4e00\u5207\u6cd5\u5f9e\u5fc3\u60f3\u751f\uff0c\u4e16\u51fa\u4e16\u9593\u4e00\u5207\u751f\u6ec5\u7684\u73fe\u8c61\uff0c\u90fd\u662f\u5f9e\u5fc3\u7684\u4f5c\u7528\u800c\u7522\u751f\uff0c\u5982\u4f55\u628a\u4e16\u754c\u6216\u74b0\u5883\u7684\u707d\u96e3\u5316\u89e3\u3001\u6e1b\u8f15\uff0c\u6211\u5011\u5fc5\u9808\u5f9e\u6700\u6839\u672c\u8655\u7684\u4eba\u5fc3\u8457\u624b\uff0c\u52aa\u529b\u53bb\u6539\u8b8a\u81ea\u5df1\uff0c\u56e0\u70ba\u6211\u5011\u8207\u5341\u65b9\u6cd5\u754c\u6240\u6709\u773e\u751f\u7684\u95dc\u4fc2\u5747\u5b58\u5728\u8457\u53ef\u8ab2\u8cac\u6027 (Accountability)\uff0c\u5f9e\u4f5b\u6cd5\u7684\u601d\u60df\u800c\u8a00\uff0c\u4e0d\u50c5\u5305\u62ec\u4e86\u6709\u60c5\u8207\u7121\u60c5 (\u5373\u5c71\u6cb3\u5927\u5730\u3001\u8349\u6728\u7926\u690d\u7269\u7b49) \u7684\u773e\u751f\uff0c\u4e5f\u5305\u62ec\u4e86\u4e00\u5207\u5916\u5728\u7269\u8cea\u8207\u74b0\u5883\u4e16\u754c\u7684\u4f9d\u5831\u3002\u9762\u5c0d\u9019\u4e00\u5207\u7684\u56f0\u5883\u8207\u6311\u6230\uff0c\u53ea\u6709\u300c\u5fc3\u300d\u7684\u6559\u80b2\u624d\u662f\u6700\u6839\u672c\u7684\u89e3\u6c7a\u4e4b\u9053\u3002<\/p>\n On the other hand, the development of capitalism under the intensified effects of globalization stresses fast-paced competition.\u00a0 Consequently, major changes are taking place in the material world in which we live. Nowadays, everyone talks about natural disasters and man-made calamities. More and more people have realized that the earth is impermanent and frail and that development of human civilization cannot stop disasters.\u00a0 We know that all Dharmas are created from the mind.\u00a0 The phenomenon of what comes into being and what perishes in both conventional and transcendental worlds are also made from the mind alone. How do we mitigate or solve environmental problems or global issues?\u00a0 We must fix their root cause – that is the human mind. We should work hard to change ourselves because we are also accountable in the relationships we have with all living beings. From the Buddhist perspective, living beings include both sentient and insentient beings, such as mountains, rivers, great earth, grass, plants and minerals, as well as the material world and the external environment. In the face of these predicaments and challenges, the fundamental method to solve these issues is to transform the mind.<\/p>\n \u4e0a\u4eba\u7684\u4e00\u751f\u70ba\u5f18\u63da\u6b63\u6cd5\uff0c\u7279\u5225\u6ce8\u91cd\u6559\u80b2\u4e8b\u696d\u3002\u6cd5\u754c\u4f5b\u6559\u5927\u5b78\u6ce8\u91cd\u555f\u767c\u81ea\u6027\u667a\u6167\uff0c\u4e0d\u50c5\u50b3\u6388\u5c08\u696d\u77e5\u8b58\uff0c\u66f4\u4ee5\u502b\u7406\u9053\u5fb7\u70ba\u57fa\u790e\uff0c\u5f15\u9818\u5b78\u751f\u85c9\u7531\u7d93\u5178\u95b1\u8b80\u8207\u5be6\u969b\u4fee\u6301\uff0c\u9020\u5c31\u5177\u6709\u5168\u4eba\u7279\u8cea\u7684\u4eba\u624d\uff0c\u7d42\u6975\u7684\u76ee\u6a19\u5728\u65bc\u5229\u76ca\u7fa4\u751f\u3002<\/p>\n Ven. Master Hua dedicated his entire life to propagate the Buddhadharma, with particular emphasis on education. Dharma Realm Buddhist University focuses on activating students\u2019 inherent wisdom. It not only conveys knowledge but also nourishes each student as a whole person by guiding him or her through sutra studies and actual practices grounded in virtue and humanity.\u00a0\u00a0 The ultimate goal of such education is to inspire students to benefit living beings.<\/p>\n \u4eca\u5929\u540c\u6642\u4e5f\u662f\u50e7\u4f3d\u5c45\u58eb\u8a13\u7df4\u73ed\u7684\u7d50\u696d\u5178\u79ae\uff0c\u5b78\u54e1\u5011\u5728\u5960\u7acb\u4e86\u826f\u597d\u7a69\u56fa\u7684\u5b78\u7fd2\u57fa\u790e\u5f8c\uff0c\u5c07\u4f86\u7684\u4efb\u52d9\u5728\u65bc\u5982\u4f55\u53c3\u8207\u4f5b\u6559\u4e8b\u52d9\uff0c\u4ee5\u5f18\u63da\u6b63\u6cd5\uff0c\u7e8c\u4f5b\u547d\u8108\u3002\u4e0a\u4eba\u5728\u8056\u57ce\u6240\u958b\u8fa6\u7684\u5404\u9805\u6559\u80b2\uff0c\u5c07\u6559\u80b2\u56de\u6b78\u5230\u4eba\u985e\u6700\u57fa\u672c\u7684\u502b\u7406\u8207\u9053\u5fb7\u4e4b\u6838\u5fc3\u50f9\u503c\uff0c\u78ba\u5be6\u662f\u6fc1\u4e16\u4e2d\u7684\u4e00\u80a1\u6e05\u6d41\u3002\u80fd\u5920\u8d70\u9032\u842c\u4f5b\u8056\u57ce\u5b78\u7fd2\uff0c\u672c\u8eab\u5c31\u662f\u300c\u767e\u5343\u842c\u52ab\u96e3\u906d\u9047\u300d\u7684\u6b8a\u52dd\u56e0\u7de3\uff0c\u9032\u4e86\u842c\u4f5b\u8056\u57ce\u90fd\u662f\u5728\u5b78\u7fd2\u5982\u4f55\u505a\u4eba\uff0c\u6211\u5011\u4eba\u4eba\u672c\u4f86\u500b\u500b\u90fd\u53ef\u4ee5\u6210\u4f5b\uff0c\u4f46\u662f\u5e2b\u7236\u4e0a\u4eba\u544a\u8a34\u6211\u5011\uff0c\u5982\u4f55\u6210\u4f5b\u4e00\u5207\u90fd\u5fc5\u9808\u5f9e\u505a\u4eba\u958b\u59cb\uff0c\u9019\u4e5f\u662f\u73fe\u5728\u9ad8\u7b49\u6559\u80b2\u7684\u5167\u6db5\u4ee4\u4eba\u60cb\u60dc\u7684\u5730\u65b9\uff0c\u56e0\u70ba\u300c\u505a\u4eba\u300d\u4e0d\u662f\u5b78\u7fd2\u7684\u91cd\u9ede\uff0c\u53d6\u800c\u4ee3\u4e4b\u7684\u662f\u5982\u4f55\u6eff\u8db3\u8ffd\u6c42\u500b\u4eba\u7684\u6b32\u671b\u3002<\/p>\n Today is also the commencement of the Sangha and Laity Training Program.\u00a0 With a good and solid foundation, the graduates’ mission is to participate in Buddhist works so that they can share the Dharma and carry on the Buddha’s lineage.\u00a0 The various educational institutions that Ven. Master Hua founded return education to its core value of basic human virtue and ethics.\u00a0 It is indeed a clear stream in the turbid world.\u00a0 Being able to walk into CTTB to learn is a supreme and special opportunity. CTTB teaches people how to be truly human. All of us can become Buddhas. Our teacher, Master Hua, told us in order to become a Buddha, one must know how to be a good person.\u00a0 This is the lamentable aspect of higher education in today’s world, which has replaced the goal of learning how to be a good person with how to pursue and satisfy personal desires.<\/p>\n \u4e0a\u4eba\u57281993\u5e74\u5143\u6708\u6700\u5f8c\u4e00\u6b21\u56de\u53f0\u5f18\u6cd5\u6642\uff0c\u544a\u8aa1\u5927\u5bb6\u8981\u76e1\u5230\u505a\u4eba\u7684\u57fa\u672c\u539f\u5247\uff0c\u529b\u884c\u5b5d\u9053\uff0c\u4e26\u4e14\u8981\u505a\u5230\u300c\u4e0d\u722d\u3001\u4e0d\u8caa\u3001\u4e0d\u6c42\u3001\u4e0d\u81ea\u79c1\u3001\u4e0d\u81ea\u5229\u3001\u4e0d\u5984\u8a9e\u300d\u516d\u5927\u5b97\u65e8\uff0c\u6211\u5011\u5982\u679c\u80fd\u5920\u8001\u8001\u5be6\u5be6\u5730\u3001\u8173\u8e0f\u5be6\u5730\uff0c\u62ff\u51fa\u771f\u5fc3\u4f86\u7528\u529f\uff0c\u5c31\u80fd\u5713\u6210\u4f5b\u9053\u3002\u4e0a\u4eba\u7684\u516d\u5927\u5b97\u65e8\u807d\u8d77\u4f86\u662f\u518d\u5e73\u6de1\u7121\u5947\u4e0d\u904e\u4e86\uff0c\u4f46\u5728\u5be6\u8e10\u7684\u904e\u7a0b\u4e2d\uff0c\u624d\u77e5\u9053\u5b57\u5b57\u76f4\u6307\u4eba\u5fc3\uff0c\u7121\u4e00\u4e0d\u662f\u8003\u9a57\u3002\u6240\u8b02\u300c\u76f4\u5fc3\u662f\u9053\u5834\u300d\uff0c\u9019\u516d\u5927\u5b97\u65e8\u96a8\u6642\u5728\u6aa2\u9a57\u6211\u5011\u662f\u5426\u76e1\u7528\u59d4\u66f2\u5a49\u8f49\u7684\u5fc3\u5728\u4fee\u884c\u4f5b\u6cd5\uff0c\u9020\u4f5c\u8eab\u53e3\u610f\u7684\u60e1\u696d\uff0c\u6b3a\u779e\u81ea\u5df1\u8207\u5225\u4eba\u3002<\/p>\n When the Ven. Master returned to Taiwan to propagate the Dharma in January 1993, he exhorted us to fulfill our basic duty as human beings by being filial to our parents and practicing the Six Great Principles of not fighting, not being greedy, not seeking, not being selfish, not pursuing personal advantage and not lying. He said that if we could cultivate with our true hearts, honestly, step by step, we will certainly realize Buddhahood.\u00a0 The Six Great Principles sound quite ordinary. But in the process of practicing them, one knows every single word points directly to the mind. Everything becomes a test.\u00a0 It’s said, “the straight mind is the Way.” The Six Great Principles test us all the time to see if we are using the crooked mind to cultivate the Buddhadharma or to create bad karma in body, speech and mind to deceive ourselves and others.<\/p>\n \u81f3\u65bc\u5b5d\u9053\uff0c\u4e0a\u4eba\u8aaa\u904e\u7236\u6bcd\u5c31\u662f\u5929\u5730\uff0c\u7236\u6bcd\u5c31\u662f\u5e2b\u9577\uff0c\u7236\u6bcd\u4e5f\u5c31\u662f\u8af8\u4f5b\uff0c\u4f60\u8981\u60f3\u6210\u4f5b\uff0c\u5148\u8981\u5b5d\u9806\u7236\u6bcd\uff0c\u56e0\u6b64\u7b2c\u4e00\u8981\u7dca\u7684\u5c31\u662f\u5b5d\u9053\u3002\u4e00\u822c\u4e16\u4fd7\u7684\u5b5d\u9053\u5927\u62b5\u91dd\u5c0d\u81ea\u5df1\u7684\u7236\u6bcd\uff0c\u4f5b\u6cd5\u88e1\u7684\u5b5d\u9053\u5247\u5229\u57fa\u65bc\u773e\u751f\u5e73\u7b49\u7684\u601d\u60f3\uff0c\u6709\u66f4\u6df1\u7684\u8d85\u8d8a\uff0c\u4ea6\u5373\u5341\u65b9\u6cd5\u754c\u7684\u773e\u751f\u8207\u6211\u5747\u70ba\u4e00\u9ad4\uff0c\u4e14\u4e00\u5207\u773e\u751f\u8f2a\u8f49\u516d\u9053\u65e2\u7d93\u7121\u91cf\u52ab\u6578\uff0c\u4e14\u65bc\u591a\u751f\u4e2d\uff0c\u66fe\u7d93\u4e92\u70ba\u7236\u6bcd\uff0c\u6211\u5011\u7576\u672c\u8457\u5927\u5b5d\u7684\u7cbe\u795e\uff0c\u767c\u52c7\u731b\u7cbe\u9032\u7684\u83e9\u63d0\u5fc3\uff0c\u4e0d\u50c5\u4f7f\u81ea\u5df1\u80fd\u5920\u4e86\u751f\u812b\u6b7b\uff0c\u8b49\u5f97\u4f5b\u679c\uff0c\u4ea6\u7576\u70ba\u6240\u6709\u7684\u773e\u751f\u767c\u5fc3\u56de\u5831\uff0c\u4ee4\u5f97\u7121\u4e0a\u6b63\u7b49\u6b63\u89ba\u3002\u4e0a\u4eba\u7684\u5341\u516b\u5927\u9858\u5c31\u662f\u6700\u7a76\u7adf\u7684\u5b5d\u9053\u3002<\/p>\n As for filial respect, Ven. Master said parents are our heaven and earth.\u00a0 Parents are our teachers, and parents are Buddhas.\u00a0 If one wishes to become a Buddha, one must first be filial to one\u2019s parents. Therefore, the most important practice is filial respect.\u00a0 The subject of conventional filial respect is usually our own parents.\u00a0 The extended filial respect that Buddhism teaches points to a deeper level: all living beings are equal and are identical with me. Additionally, as all living beings have been transmigrating in the Six Paths for innumerable eons, we have been one another’s parents.\u00a0 Based on the spirit of extended filial respect, we should make a vigorous resolve to seek awakening. We can then end the cycle of birth and death, become Buddhas, and help all living beings to realize the unsurpassed and right enlightenment as a way of repaying their kindness. The Ven. Master’s 18 great vows are the epitome of filial respect.<\/p>\n \u4eca\u5929\u5404\u4f4d\u7684\u5b78\u7fd2\u5373\u5c07\u66ab\u6642\u544a\u4e00\u6bb5\u843d\uff0c\u5982\u4f55\u57f9\u990a\u670d\u52d9\u4eba\u7fa4\u7684\u7cbe\u795e\uff0c\u5efa\u7acb\u6211\u70ba\u4eba\u4eba\u7684\u5927\u5fd7\u5411\uff0c\u8b00\u6c42\u5927\u773e\u7684\u5e78\u798f\uff0c\u662f\u5927\u5bb6\u53ef\u4ee5\u52aa\u529b\u601d\u8003\u7684\u65b9\u5411\u3002\u7531\u65bc\u7acb\u5fd7\u662f\u53e4\u4eca\u8b80\u66f8\u4eba\u6700\u91cd\u8981\u7684\u4e00\u4ef6\u4e8b\uff0c\u300c\u7acb\u5fd7\u300d\u5728\u4f5b\u6cd5\u88e1\u662f\u4e00\u7a2e\u8a93\u9858\u6216\u9858\u529b\uff0c\u8af8\u4f5b\u83e9\u85a9\u548c\u5e2b\u7236\u4e0a\u4eba\u5728\u9858\u529b\u4e2d\uff0c\u6240\u884c\u6301\u7684\u6148\u60b2\u3001\u667a\u6167\u3001\u6212\u5f8b\u8207\u65b9\u4fbf\u5747\u662f\u4e0d\u53ef\u601d\u8b70\uff0c\u800c\u4e14\u76f4\u81f3\u76e1\u672a\u4f86\u969b\u4e0d\u53ef\u8a08\u52ab\uff0c\u4ecd\u7136\u6301\u4e4b\u4ee5\u6046\uff0c\u5805\u5b9a\u884c\u6301\u3002\u5e0c\u671b\u80fd\u5920\u85c9\u7531\u4e0a\u4eba\u7684\u8a31\u591a\u6cd5\u8a9e\uff0c\u5728\u4eca\u5929\u7684\u5178\u79ae\u4e2d\uff0c\u8207\u5927\u5bb6\u5171\u540c\u52c9\u52f5\u3001\u5171\u540c\u5b78\u7fd2\u300c\u4ee5\u5e2b\u5fc3\u70ba\u5df1\u5fc3\uff0c\u4ee5\u5e2b\u5fd7\u70ba\u5df1\u5fd7\u300d\uff0c\u5982\u5927\u4f5b\u9802\u9996\u695e\u56b4\u795e\u5492\u4e91\uff1aToday, your studies may have come to an end temporarily.\u00a0 However, the spirit of how to serve others and the aspiration of seeking to bring benefits to all people might be something you would want to think about.\u00a0 For ancient scholars, finding one’s aspiration is a most important task.\u00a0\u00a0 In Buddhism, one’s aspiration means one\u2019s resolve or vows.\u00a0 The kindness, compassion, wisdom, ethical discipline, and skillful means that Buddhas, Bodhisattvas and the Ven. Master have practiced from the power of their vows are really inconceivable.\u00a0 For innumerable eons, they persevere in their practices. I to use the Ven.
